Midi Stroke — in the browser, the desktop app and the Android and iOS apps — does not collect, store or share any personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Vibetuned, a non-profit for music and arts education, makes it.

What you do in the app stays on your device and is never sent anywhere: your statistics and results, your settings, the scores you import, your keyboard’s range and your drum kit’s pad map. It is deleted when you clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app.

  • Piano sounds, downloaded from tonejs.github.io (GitHub Pages) the first time they are needed.
  • The theory lessons’ videos, played from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), only when you open a lesson.
  • The web app and this site, served by GitHub Pages; the apps carry their own files.
  • Links you open, in your browser.

Those services receive the requests your device makes to them — like any web page you visit — under their own privacy policies: GitHub, Google / YouTube.

The app listens to your MIDI instrument to score your playing, on your device. On Android and iOS, Bluetooth is used only to find and connect the MIDI instrument you choose; the Android app asks for the nearby devices permission for that, and never uses your location.

The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
